What is Custom RTMP? Follow this guide and learn everything you need to know about custom channels.

If you want to stream to a platform not listed among supported services, you can use our Custom RTMP feature and stream to any destination that provides an RTMP URL and stream key.

For example, you would like to stream to Vimeo. Vimeo is not on the list of supported services and can be connected via RTMP.

Requirements

  • A paid plan is required to unlock Custom RTMP streaming.
  • API-dependent features like StreamWay Chat and Analytics will not work for Custom RTMP channels.

How to add a Custom RTMP Channel

  1. Go to your StreamWay Dashboard.
  2. Click “Edit Destinations“, followed by “Add Destination“.
  3. Click the option “Custom RTMP” from the list.
  4. Fill in the RTMP URL and stream key, as provided by the platform you are connecting to, and confirm by clicking “Add Channel”.
  5. If you need to use RTMPS, the steps are the same; just use your RTMPS URL instead of an RTMP URL.
  6. You can also use RTMP Authentication with your username and password, but normally, this is unnecessary.

Stream Titles

After you add a Custom RTMP channel, StreamWay will display the message “Title setup isn’t supported for the platform” under your list of destinations when you start a new stream or set up a StreamWay Event.

This is not an error but a warning to notify you that Custom RTMP destinations do not support setting up titles from StreamWay. The titles will continue working normally for the rest of our supported platforms, and your stream will reach the Custom RTMP channel just fine, despite the warning displayed.
