Connect Telegram to StreamWay
Follow the steps in this guide to go live on Telegram with StreamWay.
Telegram is the world’s 10th most popular social network, with over 500 million active users. It combines instant messaging (similar to WhatsApp) and channels for broadcasting content (similar to Instagram).
Requirements
- Streaming to Telegram is available on any of our plans, including the basic tier.
- You need to be the owner/admin of the group/channel to be able to stream.
- Telegram App for Android does not support the live streaming feature. For the best experience, we recommend using the Telegram desktop app.
How to connect Telegram to StreamWay
Desktop app:
- Download the Telegram App and create a channel or group in Telegram.
- Select Stream with inside the channel/group.
Copy Telegram RTMP Settings.
❗️You’ll need to reaccess this window and click “Start Streaming” after you go live on StreamWay Studio or your encoder.
iOS app:
- Open the Telegram app and select your channel/group.
- Click the icon in the top right corner to open your settings.
- Click Video Chat or Live Stream, and then Stream With.
- Copy Telegram RTMP Settings.
❗️You’ll need to reaccess this window and click “Start Streaming” after you go live on StreamWay Studio or your encoder.
Once you obtain these details, open StreamWay.io, click Add/Edit Destination, and click on the Telegram icon.
Fill in the RTMP URL and stream key as provided by Telegram.
Start streaming in StreamWay Studio or your encoder (OBS, Ecamm, etc), then click Start Streaming in Telegram. And that’s it – you’re live!
❗ When you want to end the stream, tap the red Leave button on Telegram. Check the box next to End live stream, and then tap Leave. The stream will end.
